VideoGPS for Android OS

The software product "VideoGPS" is designed to work on mobile devices with Android OS.

The main functions of the software product are:

1.1 Installation and uninstalling the program

To install the application, you need to download the videogps.apk file to your mobile device and select this file in the file manager to install it automatically.

To do this, connect your device to your desktop computer and use the file manager to copy the file to your mobile device. The result of copying is shown in Figure 1.

You must preliminarily allow the installation of applications from unverified sources on the device according to the documentation for the Android OS version you are using.

To install "VideoGPS" you need to select the copied package in the file manager on the device (see Figure 2).

To remove "VideoGPS", you need to find the corresponding item by the name in the menu "Settings" "Options" "Application manager". The result of this operation is shown in Figure 3.

Direct removal is carried out using the "Delete" button of the "Application Details" menu.

1.2 Starting and termination of the program

To start the program, select VideoGPS from the "Applications" menu.

When you run the program for the first time, permission requests will be displayed:

  • take photos and videos (access to the device's camera);
  • to access data about the location of the device (access to the GPS/Glonass system);
  • to access photos, multimedia and files on the device (access to storage);
  • to record audio (microphone access).

To end the program, you must click "Stop" in the menu "Settings" - "Options" - "Application Manager" (see Figure 3).

1.3 Program window

The program window is shown in Figure 4.

The program window displays:

  • button to start recording in the lower right corner;
  • in the upper right corner the GPS status icon and the number of visible satellites;
  • in the lower left corner there is a button for opening a directory with video files.

1.4 Recording a video file together with recording a motion track

To start recording, press the start recording button. In this case, the button itself will change its image to a black square, in order to be able to stop recording. It is recommended that you wait for a location indication before starting video recording so that the trace is saved completely.

The video file is saved on the device into the directory for video files named video-

1.5 Application control buttons

The button to start recording is displayed in the lower right corner of the application (Figure 6).

After the start of recording, the button changes the icon to stop recording (Figure 7).

To access the catalog with records, you can use the button in the lower left corner (Figure 8).

When receiving device coordinates from the GPS/Glonass subsystem, the icon in the upper right corner will turn green (Figure 9).

If it is impossible to receive device coordinates from the GPS/Glonass subsystem due to a weak signal or a small number of satellites, the icon will turn yellow (Figure 10).

If at the first run the application was not given permission to read coordinates from GPS/Glonass, then the icon will be red (Figure 11).
