On November 20, 2024, an international conference dedicated to "GIS Day" was held in Sofia. The event was organized by the GIS Alliance of Bulgaria and its partners (Geografika, Geodetect, Hexagon, 1Yocto, David Holding, Kolma, and other organizations). The main unifying theme of the conference this year was "United GIS for a Better Future".

The event began with a speech by Bulgaria's Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Alexander Iolovski. He emphasized the important role of business in creating and managing spatial data and close cooperation with government authorities in this field. The Deputy Minister answered participants' questions and spoke about the state program for 2025 regarding the development of digital geodata infrastructure in the country.

KB "Panorama's" partner in Bulgaria, "Geodetect" company, presented a report on "Open Data for Municipalities". Company specialists Maria Angelova and Yana Lipiyska discussed a project based on GIS "Panorama" for the Bulgarian municipality of "General Toshevo", created using data from open sources. These geodata are linked to Bulgarian geoportals "State Agricultural Fund" and "State Election Commission". A significant part of the Bulgarian colleagues' presentation was the demonstration of this project in the "Panorama Mobile" application in conjunction with the GIS Server. The report generated keen interest among conference participants.

"GIS Day" in Bulgaria brought together representatives from business, government, and academic circles. Experts shared experiences and discussed current topics related to the latest trends in the geoinformation sphere. KB "Panorama" specialists have prepared a video tutorial on creating DBM maps using the "Spatial Databases (DBM)" task. This task is available in GIS "Panorama", "Workstation of cadastral engineer", "Workstation of agronomist", and other KB "Panorama" software products.

The "Spatial Databases" task is designed to provide access to spatial database contents. A DBM format file is used for database connection. It contains description parameters for the digital vector map, which will display data from the spatial database (table, view, or SQL query result).

The video tutorial demonstrates the creation of a DBM map using the "Open a map from the database" dialog. To create a new map, the dialog requires specifying the map name, base scale, coordinate system, and classifier. When opening the classifier, keys and object codes are verified. Then, database connection settings are configured, and a database table or SQL query is specified. The map object's appearance can be set either uniformly for the entire table or individually for each record based on classifier code or key.

For retrieving data from the database, records in the change log are considered, which registers all modification events in database tables. When updating the map from the database, not all dataset records are used, but only those that have changed since the last update operation.

Geoportal "Bank of spatial data" has been supplemented with a map of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf, formed according to OpenStreetMap data. To work with the map, you can use the GIS Panorama Mini program or other software products of KB "Panorama".

The map was led to the modernised classifier of large-scale plans of scale 1: 5 000 (map5000m). Publishing of updates in bank of spatial data is made by using the program of Databank of digital maps and remote sensing data. Publishing contents of bank of spatial data on the geoportal and data access for downloading are implemented by means of GIS WebServer SE.

Free maps on the basis of OpenStreetMap data are available for download on the page "Digital maps".

KB "Panorama" has developed GIS WebServer SE version 6.22.0 for Astra Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, and MS Windows operating systems. The new version expands map editing and information search capabilities. A bottom taskbar has been added, and the administration module has been improved.

The program has enhanced area search tools by utilizing intersections with objects drawn or selected on the map. The list of found objects can be exported in GeoJSON format. For objects found in the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography, their contours are displayed on the map.

The map editor now includes a keyboard coordinate input mode for object creation. Mandatory attribute field validation is performed. When starting the component, the status of layers available for editing is verified.

The system now supports displaying map coordinates in the 1942 coordinate system (SK-42). The terrain profile component has been enhanced with the ability to build profiles along selected map objects, using either the entire contour or a limited section. Legend control has been added to the map tree view. For user convenience, the ability to share selected map objects via links has been implemented. A bottom taskbar has been added, with adapted components for terrain profile construction and spatial database viewing.

GIS WebServer SE is used for building secure corporate systems with data protection for classified information or trade secrets. It is implemented using GIS WebToolKit SE, which can be utilized in development tools using JavaScript and TypeScript.

The Regional GIS of Ryazan Oblast (RGIS RO) has been implemented based on GIS WebServer SE and other KB "Panorama" server products. RGIS RO is a specialized multifunctional geoportal providing interactive access to reliable information about various categories of objects. RGIS RO is accessible to a wide range of users – government authorities, citizens, organizations, including potential investors and private companies. The Regional GIS of Ryazan Oblast assists in decision-making across various areas of socio-economic development.

KB "Panorama" specialists have successfully completed testing that confirms the compatibility and proper functioning of GIS Operator SE and GIS Constructor with Astra Linux Special Edition version 1.8. Detailed information about the certified versions' operation in Astra Linux Special Edition 1.8 can be found in the corresponding forum sections (for GIS Operator SE and GIS Constructor).

GIS Operator SE is a domestic geographic information system for security agencies. The program is designed for accumulation, storage, automated processing, and display of data, calculation results, and forecasts with geospatial reference. GIS Operator SE includes tools for displaying and processing vector, raster, and matrix maps. The application provides users with tools for solving specialized tasks such as modeling special objects' movement against 3D models, forecasting emergency situations' consequences at hazardous facilities, monitoring aircraft movement, conducting geodetic and topographic work, processing GPS/GLONASS navigation device data, printing spatial data to various output devices, and many others. GIS Operator SE is certified for Level 2 control of undeclared capabilities by the Russian Ministry of Defense and is included in the Unified Register of Russian Software for Electronic Computing Machines and Databases (registry entry No. 10628 dated 27.05.2021).

GIS Constructor for Qt Designer SE is a set of geoinformation components for use in the Qt Designer visual programming environment, enabling the development of custom GIS applications. Digital map content visualization is performed using conventional symbols adopted for topographic, overview-geographic, and various special maps. The geographic information system has extensive capabilities for performing calculations and ensuring spatial data display on various graphic devices in standard and custom symbol systems. Core functions can be performed in multi-threaded mode. Automatic optimization of used RAM is supported for processing large data volumes with limited resources. The GIS is included in the Unified Register of Russian Software (registry entry No. 1934 dated 23.09.2016).

Astra Linux Special Edition is a Russian certified operating system with built-in information protection tools for stable and secure operation of IT infrastructures of any scale and processing of information with various levels of confidentiality. The operating system includes a software package for solving everyday office and multimedia tasks.
